Let It Go!
Do you quickly head back to your old ways of doing something when you promised yourself you were going to change?
Do you believe that you have so much to do that you have to do it all now or it won’t get done?
Do you believe if you don’t do it then no one else will do it so it is all up to you?
I struggled with this. I promised myself that I was going to do things differently this time but within a matter of days I was back to the same patterns. Why, oh Lord, why? The Holy Spirit showed me that I was afraid to let go. I believed that I had to accomplish a lot because my identity was tied up in my accomplishments. Basically, I was basing my opinion of myself on the state of my To-Do list.
Talk about idolatry! I was putting my To-Do list above the Word of God. I was trying to earn my worth and convince myself that if I did enough I would be enough. I had no hope that I would ever change UNTIL I began exalting God?s Word over mine. Jesus Christ is our Living Hope! (1 Peter 1:3) Let?s choose to place our hope in Him, the Rock the Ages and not us.
1 Peter 1:3 says ?Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead?. (Emphasis mine)
What do you need to let go of? What old way of thinking needs to be buried? Your hope is a Living Hope, Jesus Christ. Luke 9:62 says that ?No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.? Let?s bury our old definitions of success and base it on the Word. Let go, you are in good hands! (Psalm 138:7)
Look up and let go!
Thank you for giving us the Living Hope. Thank you for Jesus. Show me how I place my ways above your ways, help me to put You above all. There is a way that seems right to me but it leads to death (Proverbs 14:12). Lord, I want to let go of all that entangles me so that I am free to be a soldier for Christ (2 Timothy 2:4). Thank you for helping let go so I can move forward.
There is a way to seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
