Count it all joy. Really??
As I look at the stack of dishes in the sink, the laundry that needs to be folded, the floor that needs to be vacuumed along with my perpetual To-Do List, the Holy Spirit reminded me that I need to stop complaining and start being thankful. Hope is not present in complaints and murmurs, that is the devil’s playground.
Philippians 2:14 says, “Do all things without complaining and disputing…”.
James 1:2-3 says to;”…count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing” (Emphasis mine)
As I read the above passages, 2 things jumped out at me. The word “all” and the term “lacking nothing”.
The Bible says to count it all joy, not just the good things that happen to us. If we count it all joy and let patience work in us, then we will not lack anything, including hope. How does that work?
Honestly, I do not know but I do know that God’s ways are very different than our ways. When we make God bigger than our problems, the problems seem to lose their power.
Hebrews 12:2 says that Jesus endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him. Peter says in 1 Peter 1:3-4 that we are begotten (born) again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Do you believe that Jesus died for you? Do you believe that there is Hope and His name is Jesus?
James 1:2-3 says to;”…count it all joy when you fall into various trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete lacking nothing”
Lord help me to be thankful. Give me eyes of gratitude to see You all around. Forgive me for grumbling and complaining. Please let me situations like You do, give me Your eyes to see.
