Love

As we are coming near the end of this 40-Day Journey, have you had any prayers answered? Are your situations the same but your outlook different? What has changed?

During my journey, I had a huge prayer answered. My brother received a liver transplant. He was only on the transplant list for 4 days when he got the call that there was a liver available for him. David and I along with my family had been praying for years for a miracle in this situation. God answered our prayers.

What is hope and why do we need it?

The organ donation and transplant process is bittersweet. For my brother to receive the gift of life, someone had to lose theirs. While one family rejoices, another family mourns.

I have spent some time thinking about the transplant process over the past few weeks. It is such a representation of what Christ did for us. He died so we could live.

Paul writes in Ephesians 5:2, that we are to walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God.

As believers, Jesus Christ gave us the ultimate transplant.

John 3:16 says for God so loved that He gave His only begotten Son so that we could have eternal life.

As I was thinking about the exchange of death for life, I thought about the true meaning of Love not the Hallmark definition

L – Lose
O – Oneself
V – Victoriously
E – Emerged

Jesus embodied love. Our Living Hope laid down His life for us, conquered the grave and victoriously emerged (Revelation 1:8). In the process, He made a way for us to overcome the world and victoriously emerge as a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

My brother encountered a few setbacks after the transplant surgery but has emerged with another chance to live. I am thankful for those that choose to give life in spite of their loss.

May our hope rest in the LOVE of our Savior.

L – Lose
O – Oneself
V – Victoriously
E – Emerged

God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love for us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:4-6)

I pray that the God of all hope fill you with ALL joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope and love by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Today let’s meditate on this song and reflect on all that God has done.
