Who encourages you? Do you have someone to remind you to lift your head when you are down? Do you have community?
Psalm 133:1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” I realize you may read this and wonder how this is possible. Or maybe you think this can only happen once we get to heaven.
Being in community with others is important. Hebrews 10:24-25 says ‘that we are to stir up love, good works and encourage one another as the day of Jesus return approaches.’ I know that at times when I am down a kind and encouraging word from a friend is just what I need. Other times when I am having a pity party, I need my sisters in Christ to come along and set me straight. We do need each other.
Who are you hanging around? How do they influence you? Are they positive, do they encourage or do they just irritate you? Are your only friends on social media?
Being involved in a community requires both grace and patience. Proverbs 27:17 says that “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” When you go to a group gathering do you look for a person to encourage or do you just wait for someone to talk to you Do you get offended when they do not talk to you?
I encourage you to encourage someone and speak words of hope to them today. Wonderous things happen when we speak life over people. If you are lacking hope today, speak it over someone else. 1 Thessalonians 5:14 says, ?Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.?
Speak words of hope to someone today and watch what happens.
Thank you for community. Open my eyes to those around me and show me how to speak words of hope and love to someone today. Thank you that You honor Your Word. Show me something new today. Thank you for Jesus, our Living Hope.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing ? Life forevermore.
